GTBAO Builds Legacy through Scholarship Endowments
Generations of black alumni have worked hard to leave a meaningful legacy at Georgia Tech. These efforts began with Ford Greene, Ralph Long Jr., and Lawrence Williams, who integrated Georgia Tech in 1961. GTBAO now seeks to continue the legacy of black achievement and to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the integration at Georgia Tech in 2011 by creating endowed scholarships to support the recruitment and retention of black students.
The overall goal for the scholarship endowment initiative has been set at $2,011,000, and to date just over $600,000 (gifts, commitments, and company matches) has been raised towards that goal thanks to alumni and friends. GTBAO invites all 6,000+ black alumni to get involved, to give back and to help write a new chapter in our history.
